Cabletron Systems Inc

Working with both local-area networks (LANs) and wide-area networks(WANs), Cabletron's Multi Media Access Center (MMAC) network hub uses 10Mbps Ethernet (IEEE 802.3), and four and 16 Mbps Token Ring (IEEE 802.5)and FDDI media connections. These connections include shielded orunshielded 10BASE-T twisted pair, fiber-optic, thin or thick coaxial, andstandard AUI transceiver cabling. Because of the MMAC's diverseconnection capabilities, the product gives users a completely modularapproach to total network integration within a single framework.MMAC enables network administrators to manage the network at a networkconnection or remotely through a modem by offering a dynamic combinationof powerful software-driven network monitoring and control features. These features also give users an extensive series of visual indicatorsand quick and easy installation and fault diagnosis.MMAC can be managed through Cabletron's Remote LANVIEW or SPECTRUMnetwork management systems. With MMAC's simple design, maintenancepersonnel can easily modify electrical components within the unit. Byoffering the network planner the choice of three card cage sizes --MMAC-3FNB, MMAC-5FNB, and MMAC-8FNB -- MMAC further enhances networkflexibility.
